Join us for our most fun and biggest party we throw this Saturday night, May 14th, the 5th annual “Union of the Birds and Bees.” Again we are teaming up with our pals Tim, Pat and the Beehive Cheese crew and infusing a lot of Roosters Love to create an unforgettable evening of delicious food, cheese, brews, and good vibes in the incredible Grand Lobby of Historic Union Station. The event also serves as a charity benefit for the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Ogden Regional Medical Center. In addition we will be rockin’ the block as the ‘Shack Nasties’, take the stage at Historic Union Station with their originals, gospel, rock, country and old timey music that turns into something that feels like Ogden. As a bonus, party guests will receive a cool five-year commemorative glass. Get your tickets very soon because we sold out the event last year and are well on our way again. (Remember…Front Runner train arrives at 5:46 p.m. and is always an excellent option if you are coming from the South.)

Supporting the Stache with “Mustache March.”  Several of our employees started an underground movement a few years ago by growing the most hilarious mustaches.   We are embracing the movement by spreading the word about a secret promotion we have been doing for a few years.   If you have stache, visit either of our Roosters locations in Ogden or Layton for a special 10% discount. . . just for having a mustache! Our fabulous crew is getting in on the promo too and I apologize in advance for how they look!  Visit our locations to see their staches and don’t forget to get your picture taken for our board while you are there. We want to post up all of our mustache friends!

Picture taken this year… Send us your picture, preferably while at Roosters, sporting your Stache!

A Roosters Love Story

Valentine-blog-heading

We have been in the restaurant industry for nearly two decades.  (Yikes!  We still think we are 25 and 27.)  During that time we have had the opportunity to be a part of and see many first dates, engagements, weddings and anniversaries.   Stuff like that matters to us and we appreciate that we have been part of some special moments.

Kym & PeteWe also have our own fun Roosters love story that not too many people know about. Many individuals in our fabulous crew have met at Roosters and formed lasting relationships, making our operations feel more like one big family. (Which, as you know, is 98% a blessing and 2% a challenge at times.)   It has been really fun to get to know these couples and see their romances unfold over the years. The Roosters’ love story begins with Pete and me. We met in college while working at a Salt Lake restaurant and decided to open our own, but it doesn’t stop there. The Roosters’ love flows. . . .

Steve & Julie

Our head brewmaster (Steve) and financial manager (Julie) met 13 years ago when Julie first started as a hostess at Roosters and are now married with two beautiful daughters.

Grace & Pablo

Our head chef of Union Grill (Grace) and kitchen manager of Roosters in Ogden (Pablo) are married and have worked for us for 16 years.

Jeff & Tavia

Our Catering Director (Tavia) and Layton Roosters manager (Jeff) met while working together at Roosters Layton and got married two years ago.

Steve & Cassie

Our assistant brewmaster (Steve) and one of our servers (Cassie) are newlyweds!

Beverlee & Mike

And a server (Beverlee) and past bartender (Mike) met at Roosters and just got married.

Each couple has their own unique story and are rockstars to me and Pete. As a gathering place for the community, we hope to see many more romances blossom. Keep those love connections coming and share your story with us!

M2M and Harvest Moon this weekend!

Mountain to MetroWe have been spreading the Roosters’ love all summer at various events and are ending the season with a bang this weekend!     The Mountain to Metro and Harvest Moon Celebration weekend is when we lay it all out there for everyone to enjoy, pig wagons, athletes, bands, bubbles, performers and the best fare from us and our 25th Street restaurant neighbors.   We were involved in the creation of this festival about 8 years ago and have been passionate about it ever since.  (And really proud to see that it has outgrown our small group of organizers and turned into the biggest celebration in downtown Ogden.)    And guess what?  It’s free.   Except for food and drinks and shopping, of course.   :)

This year Saturday combines two major events in two spots I love, the mountains and Historic 25th Street.   The Xterra USA Championship Triathlon is on Saturday morning at Pineview Reservoir and Snowbasin resort and the big party is downtown from 1 pm until 10 pm.   Look for me having fun in the triathlon in the morning and on Historic 25th Street after 2pm in charge of the green clean up team.  Pete, of course, will be serving up yummy pig from the big pig wagon while groovin’ to live music on two stages.   There are also really cool kids, tween, teen and adult activities on Saturday afternoon as well as the Mountain to Metro races downtown.  Saturday night, the headliner band, Savage Henry, will be playing on a big stage in front of Roosters and Xterra will project a highlight video of the race on the side of Wiseguys’ building east of Roosters.

All in all, it is going to be a big, fun weekend and Roosters brews and root beer will be pouring on the street as well.

We hope to see you on Saturday enjoying an incredibly gorgeous, sunny fall day!

Like the GOAL Foundation says, Get Out And Live!

Kym and Pete

** Last minute invitation,  “our friend is joining our friends tonight.”   Over the years we have developed a friendship with Conrad Stoltz, 3 time Xterra World Champion.  Everyone knows we are pals with Striders Running Store.  Conrad is a gentle giant from South Africa, but is a fierce competitor.    Striders in Layton is hosting a meet and greet with Conrad tonight from 6 to 7:30 and Conrad will say a few words from 7:30 to 8 pm.    Seriously, this guy is the real deal and is an incredibly gracious and gifted athlete.

** Be sure and try a Mountain 2 Metro Lager on tap in Ogden!    For more details on this weekend, visit www.mountain2metro.com

Party on the Boulevard this Thursday Night!

Do not miss this event!  We have been working out guts out to plan this party and it is a total blast.   This the 4th year that we have teamed up with three of our fabulous, independently-owned Layton restaurant neighbors to celebrate our community and the one thing we all have in common – our street. On August 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. we will close down Heritage Park Boulevard. The cool crews from Roosters, Corbin’s Grille, Holy Smoke BBQ and MacCools will take to the street with their good eats as well other specially invited restaurant friends.

Some of the best local artisans and more than 20 local vendors will join us for a happening event. The party has something for everyone with a restored car and motorcycle show, face painters, live music, massages from Sego Lily Spa, free bouncy house and obstacle course for the kids, Layton Police Department will offer free fingerprinting for kids and Layton Fire Department will give complementary tours of their fire truck.  Join us and check out the details at www.partyontheboulevard.com

A Special Partnership

Published on 18 August 2009 by julie in Blog

Dear Friends of Roosters,

If you have been our friend for long, you know that we have been involved in numerous partnerships over the years and sponsored many community events.     Although we can’t act on every opportunity that comes our way,  one of our company goals is to partner with organizations that make a difference or just plain matter to us.   The partnership I am about to explain is no exception.

The Utah Chapter of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) has asked us to join them in finding a cure for kids with diabetes.   This partnership with JDRF hits close to home for us as one of valued and founding employees has been diagnosed with and managing Juvenile Diabetes since he was a teenager.     We have chosen three of our top-selling menu items  (What a Crock and Pepper Jack Shrimp appetizers and Bee’s Knees Honey Wheat brew) and will donate a portion of sales to JDRF.    We will also be accepting donations on behalf of JDRF.  This special campaign will take place from today through Sept 19 at both the Roosters’ Layton and Ogden locations.

I know this is short notice, but if you or someone you care about has been touched by JDRF, please join us tonight (August 18th) at 6:30 p.m. at the Layton Roosters Restaurant to kick off the campaign with JDRF.    We will have light appetizers, some live music and a few remarks from the JDRF Executive Director and a family that advocates for JDRF.

We have some really fun events coming up in the next few weeks so watch for our newsletter later this week.   In the meantime, we wish you and yours an enjoyable day in this perfect weather!

With much appreciation,

Kym and Pete

** And more than anything,  do your part and come in and eat the special menu items to support the JDRF cause!

About the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

JDRF is the leader in research leading to a cure for type 1 diabetes in the world.  It sets the global agenda for diabetes research, and is the largest charitable funder and advocate of diabetes science worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.  Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly, and can be fatal.  Until a cure is found, people with type 1 diabetes have to test their blood sugar and give themselves insulin injections multiple times or use a pump – each day, every day of their lives.  And even with that intensive care, insulin is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications, which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, and amputation. For more information, visit the JDRF web site at www.jdrf.org or call 800-533-CURE.
